Asbestos Victims Urge Congress to Reject the FACT Act

On Behalf of | Feb 12, 2016 | Asbestos Law, Veterans

Have you been keeping up with the so-called FACT (Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency) Act? Veterans, first responders, teachers, and many more are urging lawmakers to reject the bill that would require the sharing of private information of victims and their families.

If passed, the bill will require victims to provide partial social security numbers, medical histories, and other information within an online public database that can be reached by anyone. This puts asbestos exposure victims, many of which are elderly, ill, and dying, at serious risk for identity theft.

In a recent letter to Congress, several veterans groups wrote that supporting the bill is a “slap in the face to these brave men and women who often put their lives in harm’s way serving their country.”

Have you told your Senators how you feel about the FACT Act? If you support the innocent individuals who have fought for and built our country, don’t hesitate to tell lawmakers that you oppose the FACT Act, today.
