Vinegar Ingredient Found to Effectively Kill Mesothelioma Cells

On Behalf of | Feb 9, 2015 | Mesothelioma

In a recent study, acetic acid, a common ingredient found in household vinegar, was proven to induce mesothelioma cell death more effectively than other existing treatments out there today.

Japanese scientists topically applied different concentrations of acetic acid to cancer cells. The results concluded that the substance, in different doses, is a powerful anticancer agent. This new study could be revolutionary for mesothelioma patients. Further research will be necessary to determine if acetic acid treatment will be effective in conjunction with existing chemotherapy drugs and therapies.

Mesothelioma is known as a fatal disease with no cure. Chemotherapy treatment can prolong a patient’s life, but it is not likely that victims will live past one to two years after diagnosis. Many victims of the cancer have been exposed to asbestos at some point in their life, whether at a job, in the home, or in other public areas.
